Ghanaian boxing icon Azumah Nelson has revealed that one does not need to be in school before he can become a good boxer.
Speaking at the Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee meeting with the media earlier today, the former champion explained that success in boxing is not determined by academic qualifications but by discipline, courage, hard work and dedication to training.
“Boxing is not about school. God created everybody with difficult talents, and if one gets the opportunity to go to school and become a graduate, it’s fine, but those who never get the opportunity become boxers like me (Azumah Nelson) when I am boxing, but I haven’t been to school.”
Azumah Nelson, who rose from humble beginnings to become one of the boxing legend also advised young boxers to be disciplined and focused.
Professor Azumah Nelson fought a total of 47 fights, won 39, and lost 6 with 2 draws in all bouts.
