Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has warned that a new New Patriotic Party (NPP) will prosecute and jail some ministers under the current John Dramani Mahama’s government over alleged scandals.
He stated that there is currently a scandal which involves a minister he refused to name, alleging that the minister is behind an IT company, Trybe Net.
He indicated that the said minister and some other appointees of the government are using the company to dupe applicants who applied to join the various security agencies.
He made the claims while reacting to the State of the Nation address delivered by President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, February 27, 2026.
He stressed that the minority were aware of the faces behind the company and will pursue the matter until the identity of the person is exposed.
“As we speak, there is a scandal looming in security services recruitment, TrybeNet. We know who brought that company to the Ministry. Karma has a way, and the minority will pursue the person and make sure there is full disclosure.”
He further argued that the President’s State of the Nation Address was a celebration without acknowledgement, adding that the President failed to admit that the fiscal space he enjoys was created by the previous administration’s painful sacrifices and difficult reforms.
He added that the stabilisation measures, Gold for Oil programme, and gold reserves framework were initiated by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The current government is taking credit for work done before 2025. ‘Gratitude costs nothing, Mr President. Give credit where it is due,’ he said.
“The cocoa farmers have reduced the producer price, and Eric Opoku cannot be found, and they are telling us macroeconomics…Ghanaians continue to suffer under galamsey.”
