Former United States Vice President Kamala Harris has opposed President Donald Trump’s leadership, asserting that his policies are steering the country towards a war lacking public support.
She voiced strong opposition to the perceived regime-change war in Iran, stressing that American troops are being endangered for the sake of Trump’s preferred conflict.
In a statement dated February 28, 2026, Kamala Harris posited that the current administration’s actions constitute a perilous and unnecessary risk to American lives, regional stability, and global standing.
She noted that such actions are not indicative of strength, but rather reckless behaviour masquerading as resolve. While acknowledging the threat posed by a nuclear-armed Iran, Harris argued that military strikes are not an effective solution to dismantling this threat.
She further criticised President Trump for reneging on campaign promises to end foreign entanglements, specifically referencing his claims that Iran’s nuclear programme had been ‘obliterated’.
Kamala Harris also raised constitutional concerns, reminding the administration that congressional authorisation is required to engage in war, and urged Congress to utilise all available means to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
