The Ministry of Health has constituted an investigation committee to examine the tragic death of 29-year-old engineer Mr Charles Amissah, who reportedly died following a hit-and-run accident on February 6, 2026.
A statement issued and signed by Desmond Boateng, Chief Director for the Minister, noted that the late engineer was reportedly denied emergency admission and care at Police Hospital, Ridge Hospital, and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
According to the statement, the incident has raised serious public concerns about emergency healthcare delivery in Ghana.
The statement explained that the committee has been tasked with uncovering the facts and recommending improvements to strengthen emergency care nationwide.
To help with its work, the committee has extended an invitation to the public, healthcare workers, eyewitnesses, and civil society organisations to submit written inputs, testimonies, or information related to emergency healthcare experiences.
Individuals and organisations are to submit their inputs to Email: dacosta_osei@yahoo.com or reach officials via Telephone: +233 55 720 8487.
The statement added that all contributions must be received by March 11, 2026.
“Your input is vital to ensuring that emergency care in Ghana is responsive, accessible, and effective. Thank you for your cooperation,” it concluded.
