The Second Deputy Minority Whip and MP for Weija Gbawe, Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has opined that the second coming of President John Dramani Mahama was to come to be destructive and create more hardship.
Contributing to the debate on President Mahama’s State of the Nation Address, he branded the president’s leadership a “toxic mix of incompetence, deceit, recklessness, and disregard for human beings.”
Hon. Shaib used a biblical reference to attack the president’s track record, specifically regarding cocoa farmers.
‘Mr Speaker, John 3:3 says, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”‘. But in this case, President Mahama has been given three chances, and what has he done for the people?” Shaib asked.
He noted that while the president previously hiked cocoa prices from 3,100 to 3,600 cedis per bag, the administration has since slashed that price to 2,500 cedis.
“Incompetence is back, deceit is back, recklessness is back… Disregard for human beings is back,” Shaib declared, drawing a wave of applause and murmurs from the floor. “The people of Ghana deserve better, Mr Speaker. We need accountability, not empty promises.”
He said the Ghanaian people will no longer be taken for granted by the ruling government.
He challenged President John Dramani Mahama to answer for his performance.
The lawmaker said this was the third time President Mahama was ruling, stating that he took over after the death of the late John Evans Atta Mills, served his own first term and is now serving his second term.
He said the president canvassed for votes and made several promises but has failed in delivering on his promises.
“The people of Ghana will not be fooled. We demand answers, we demand action, and we demand it now,” he shouted over a final roar of approval from his colleagues.
