The Ghana Police Service has apprehended three individuals in connection with the murder of the Queenmother of Abamba, situated near Amantin in the Atebubu area, as confirmed by the Bono East Regional Police Command.
The suspects, identified as Rafiu Haruna, Muftawu Adamu, and Michael Owusu Spermi, were taken into custody following an intelligence-led operation, according to a statement released by the Police on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Currently, the suspects are in police custody, assisting with investigations. Meanwhile, authorities are actively pursuing other suspects linked to the matter.
The late Nana Serwaa Asaamaa Kuma Gyan, popularly known as the Ohemaa of Ohemaa’s Kitchen, was fatally shot on February 25, 2026, at her residence in the Methodist Church area of Atebubu.
Details of the incident reveal that the Queenmother had returned home from her eatery with a colleague and was exercising caution due to security concerns in the area when she was allegedly ambushed by two assailants who opened fire as she attempted to enter her room.
She was subsequently found lying in a pool of blood on her front porch, having sustained gunshot wounds to her hands, back, and head. Her colleague narrowly escaped the attack and raised the alarm.
