The people of Pru East District are celebrating a major milestone as Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, the MP for Pru East, commissioned the first-ever technical and vocational education and training (TVET) school in Yeji.

The LORD BOAM SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING CENTER, established with the MP’s own finance and support from development partners, aims to equip students with practical skills, enhancing their employability and contributing to the local economy.

Hon. Boam has consistently demonstrated his commitment to improving education in Pru East. He has previously presented computers to Yeji Senior High School, launched a quiz competition among schools, and rewarded outstanding teachers. His focus on STEM education and vocational training seeks to bridge the skills gap and empower the youth.

The TVET school will provide hands-on training in catering, fashion, electronics, and electricals, with each department fully equipped with practical equipment. Students will also study core subjects like English, maths, and science.

The school is fully accredited by the Ghana Education Service under the TVET Act, ensuring students receive an accredited professional certificate.

At the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Boam emphasised his commitment to education for all, regardless of age, finance, or situational challenges. He believes the TVET school will help less privileged individuals acquire skills.

The Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, praised the government’s efforts to boost TVET education and thanked President John Dramani Mahama for establishing the Digital Engineering University in Techiman. He urged the people of Pru East to manage the LORD BOAM SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING CENTRE with care.

TVET Director for Bono East Region, Mr. Appiah Kubi, advised the public to respect artisans’ knowledge, countering perceptions that they are unknowledgeable.

The LORD BOAM SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING CENTRE is now open for admissions for its first batch of students. This development reflects Hon. Boam’s dedication to improving education infrastructure and creating opportunities for his constituents.
