Moses Foh-Amoaning, the executive secretary of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, has announced that the coalition plans to mobilise African Americans to boycott Lincoln University.
This move follows the university’s decision to withdraw a proposed honorary doctorate for President John Dramani Mahama, an action Foh-Amoaning described as “disgusting”, “disrespectful”, and an insult to Ghanaian leadership.
He further asserted that the institution lacks the moral integrity and standing necessary to confer such honours.
Speaking with host Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s Frontline, Foh-Amoaning detailed a series of actions intended to tarnish the university’s reputation.
He argued that the award lacked intellectual and academic merit, suggesting it was fortunate that the president did not receive it.
In his view, academic institutions should prioritise scientific rationale over ideological agendas, and he suggested that the university’s reversal was a direct reaction to President Mahama’s stance on the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill.
The Coalition’s strategy includes a formal petition to the family of the late Dr Kwame Nkrumah, requesting they demand the university cease associating its name with the legacy of the former Ghanaian leader.
Foh-Amoaning claimed that there is an advocacy wing funnelling money into Ghana to promote homosexuality, specifically men having sex with men, which he linked to a surge in new HIV infections.
He maintained that the Coalition would intensify its campaign to prevent these activities from affecting the nation’s children and youth.
Expressing his resolve, Foh-Amoaning stated, “As a coalition, we will mobilise African Americans, Asians and other like-minded persons to boycott Lincoln University. We will also write officially to the family of the late Dr Kwame Nkrumah to withdraw any association of the late leader with the school. Dr Kwame Nkrumah would have resisted this cultural imperialism and mental slavery, and so we cannot allow the university to associate his name with their school. As for Lincoln University, what we will do is to encourage African Americans to boycott them.”
