Thousands of residents in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region who do not have the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards or have them but have to renew them have been given access for free registration and renewal.

The exercise, which began on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, is expected to end on Monday, March 30, 2026, in all the seventeen communities.

This was an initiative of the Office of the Jomoro Municipal Chief Executive, Benedict Boadi, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament, Dorcas Affo-Toffey.

The communities were Ekababu, Beyin, Ngelekazo, Meagyina / Nzulezo, Kabenlasuazo and Ellonyi. The rest were Kengen, Twenen, Agyeza, Allengezule, Ehoaka, Ezilinbo, and Bonyere.

Ndumsuazo, Nawule, Bonyere Junction and Half Assini complete the list of communities benefited from the free registration exercise.

The Jomoro MP, who is also the Deputy Minister of Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, said, “This free exercise is being undertaken by the Ghana National Gas Company as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, following successful engagements and lobbying efforts by the Hon. Member of Parliament together with the Hon. MCE to ensure that the benefits of the company’s social interventions are extended to the people of Jomoro.”

She said the initiative was to ensure that all residents have the NHIS card to be able to access healthcare whenever they fall sick.

The MCE, Benedict Boadi, said, “All the assembly members and party leadership within the selected communities were requested to take note of the scheduled dates and mobilise residents to ensure the success of this exercise.”
