Speaking at a state banquet hosted in his honour by President John Dramani Mahama on April 1, Mnangagwa recalled how Ghana served as a key training ground for Zimbabwean freedom fighters.

“Most of my colleagues received training here in Ghana for the armed liberation of Zimbabwe. We are forever grateful to Ghana,” he said.

Mnangagwa is in Ghana for a three-day state visit as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new areas of cooperation between the two countries.

According to him, the visit presents opportunities to deepen business-to-business engagement and expand economic collaboration.

President John Dramani Mahama, on his part, assured him that Ghana remains committed to strengthening relations with Zimbabwe, highlighting the longstanding friendship between the two nations.

The two leaders exchanged symbolic gifts, with Mnangagwa receiving traditional Ghanaian fugu and kente while presenting a gift in return to Mahama.
