The lifeless body of a newborn baby girl was discovered at the Kronkromase Cemetery within the Atasomanso Electoral Area of the Ashanti Region early on Sunday, 5 April 2026.
The incident was confirmed by Abdul Samid, the Assembly Member for the Atasomanso Electoral Area, who noted that local residents reported the discovery to the Kronkromase Police Station immediately upon finding the child.
Following the report, the Upper Ashanti Regional Police moved the body to the morgue, where it remains pending further investigation and a formal autopsy.
Meanwhile, authorities have launched an official inquiry to identify the parents and determine the circumstances surrounding the abandonment of the infant.
The police have issued an urgent appeal to the public, requesting that anyone with relevant information come forward to assist with their ongoing investigation.
