Berekum Chelsea striker Dominic Frimpong has tragically lost his life in a violent armed robbery attack on the team’s bus along the Bibiani-Goaso road at Ahyiresu.
The incident occurred on Sunday, April 12, 2026, as the team returned from their Ghana Premier League match against FC Samartex at DUN’s Park, which they lost 1-0.
According to available details, the bus was ambushed by armed individuals who blocked the road, forcing players and officials to abandon the vehicle and seek safety in nearby bushes.
Several team members sustained injuries during the chaotic incident.
Frimpong, aged 20, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Ghana Police Service has initiated a manhunt for the attackers, while efforts are underway to locate players and officials who remain unaccounted for following the incident.
The late player had joined Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana FC in January, a move that was set to run until the end of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season. He had scored two goals in 13 league appearances prior to his untimely death.
