In an effort to enhance accessibility and alleviate congestion, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) is extending its operational hours at selected offices across the country.
Effective Monday, May 4, 2026, fifteen designated offices will transition to a structured two-shift system, remaining open until 10:00 pm daily.
This strategic shift is designed to provide greater flexibility for motorists and clients whose schedules prevent them from visiting during traditional business hours.
The expanded service hours will be implemented at offices in Narhman (near Haatso), Weija, Tema, Bolgatanga, Wa, Tamale, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Koforidua, Sunyani, Ho, Techiman, Kumasi, Winneba, and Tarkwa.
According to an official statement, this initiative aligns with the government’s 24-hour economy policy, which aims to maximise national productivity while ensuring essential public services are more readily available to the citizenry.
To ensure security and efficiency during these late-hour operations, the Authority specified that all payments made after 5:00 pm must be processed through electronic channels.
Clients are advised to prepare for these digital-only transactions before arrival.
As the DVLA works toward a comprehensive 24-hour service framework, it has requested the public’s patience and cooperation.
These reforms represent a key component of a broader modernisation strategy aimed at streamlining operations and significantly improving the customer experience on a national scale.
