The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has launched the enrolment of newly eligible households into Ghana’s Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty programme, following a nationwide reassessment of beneficiaries.
The exercise is aimed at strengthening the country’s social protection system and ensuring that support reaches the most vulnerable.
Speaking to the media, the Minister explained that the reassessment reviewed existing beneficiaries, identified new households that qualify for support, and updated or removed others based on their current living conditions.
She noted that the enrolment process will involve strict verification to confirm eligibility.
According to her, about 400,000 beneficiaries will be enrolled into the LEAP programme to receive financial assistance.
Meanwhile, the Minister disclosed that over 220,000 beneficiaries will exit the programme after improvements were recorded in their livelihoods following a thorough assessment.
