Member of Parliament for Akim Oda Constituency, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has condemned in strong terms a viral video showing young men brandishing machetes and engaging in an open street fight in Akyem Oda.
In a statement, Hon. Acquah described the incident as disturbing and said it had drawn condemnation from residents and concerned Ghanaians both at home and abroad.
The MP confirmed that the Ghana Police Service has intervened and arrested some of the individuals involved. He added that others who sustained injuries during the clash are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Hon. Acquah urged residents to remain calm to prevent the incident from escalating into broader unrest that could disturb the peace of Akyem Oda.
“I wish to condemn with no ambiguity a viral video showing some young men brandishing machetes and engaging in open fights on the streets of Akyem Oda,” he said.
He called on the community to allow the police to carry out a full investigation into the cause of the violence, noting that such unruly behaviour is foreign to the youth of Akyem Oda.
