Gospel musician Florence Obinim has revealed that despite the massive success of her 2005 hit ‘Osoro Ne Mefie’, the song brought about a period of intense personal trial.

She disclosed that following the track’s release, she became the target of both physical and spiritual attacks from unexpected sources.

In a shocking revelation, Obinim noted that many of these attacks originated from fellow Christians, including preachers and gospel musicians.

The hostility stemmed from a perceived hypocrisy; critics accused her of preaching against the acquisition of property while she herself possessed material wealth.

However, the singer clarified that the song was a divine mandate. She explained that she was inspired by God to warn listeners about the coming Judgement Day and the importance of godliness, reminding believers that everyone must eventually give an account of their stewardship.

According to Obinim, her detractors simply lacked a spiritual understanding of the song’s intent and impact.

Speaking in an interview on the mid-morning drive on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, she declined to provide specific details on how the spiritual “orchestrations” were carried out, but she maintained that the experience was both terrible and deeply unsettling.

Released in 2005 as the title track of her hit album, ‘Osoro Ne Mefie’ (which translates from Twi to English as “Heaven is My Home” remains one of Ghana’s most iconic worship songs, centred on the hope of the afterlife.

“There is nothing that happens physically that does not first manifest spiritually. You’ve asked a very critical question. You know I am not the type of person who discloses personal issues publicly, but I can confirm that the attacks were both spiritual and physical. I will tell you more about the spiritual attacks after the show; you would be shocked at the nature of them.

What these attackers failed to recognize was that when God is strongly beside you, nothing can affect you. When you read Matthew 6:33, it enjoins Christians to ‘seek ye first the Kingdom of God’ and all other things shall be added. I have done that, and God has blessed me with a house and a car—so why should I be attacked because of that? Those who came after me lacked an understanding of the Gospel and did so for no reason.”
