A tense atmosphere hangs over the Chiraa community in the Sunyani West District after a 36-year-old man, identified as Akwasi, was tragically killed following allegations of goat theft.
The incident has left local residents in shock and raised serious concerns regarding jungle justice and security in the area.
According to heart-wrenching accounts from the deceased’s mother, Akwasi’s death follows a chilling ultimatum issued just days prior.
She revealed that an individual in the community had accused Akwasi of stealing their goat.
The aggrieved owner allegedly confronted Akwasi and explicitly threatened to end his life if the missing animal was not returned within a strict three-day grace period.
Tragically, before the deadline could even expire or the matter be legally resolved, Akwasi was found dead—seemingly executed by an unknown assailant.
While the identity of the actual killer remains unconfirmed, the family’s testimony has pointed a strong finger of suspicion toward the owner of the goat.
Local police have reportedly been notified and are launching a full investigation into the incident.
Reporting the story on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Nana Kwame noted that authorities are currently searching for the owner of the goat for questioning, as well as any eyewitnesses who might have information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
