Ministry of Health Clears Outstanding Arrears for 2020 Batch of Nurses and Midwives

May 28, 2026
MOH-680x350

The Ministry of Health says it has officially executed the payment of three months of outstanding arrears from 2025 owed to the 2020 batch of nurses and midwives, fulfilling a timeline originally set by the Ministry of Finance for May 2026.

While the majority of the payments have been successfully processed, government officials acknowledged that the rollout faced minor technical hurdles.

In a statement addressing the disbursement, the Ministry noted that it “has taken note of some isolated cases where individuals did not receive the full three (3) months of arrears as scheduled.”

To rectify these discrepancies, health officials are collaborating with state treasury auditors to ensure all affected personnel receive their complete allocations.

Ministry of Health Spokesperson Tony Goodman assured affected workers that the government is actively troubleshooting the system errors.

“The Ministry of Health is working closely with the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to resolve the issue and to ensure that payments are made to these individuals, in addition to their June scheduled payments,” Goodman stated.

The Ministry expressed gratitude to the healthcare workforce for their continued professionalism throughout the administrative process, stating that it “appreciates the patience, dedication, and service of all Nurses and Midwives involved in this process across the country.”

Outstanding balances for the affected individuals are expected to be cleared alongside the next regular payroll cycle.
