The Upper West Regional Police Command has apprehended two suspects linked to a gunpoint robbery on the Tumu-Kowie road in the Sissala East District.

According to a police statement issued by Deputy Regional Police Commander ACP Peter Kamasa, the incident occurred on May 30, 2026, when the suspects allegedly robbed three individuals of an unregistered Apsonic motorbike.

A swift, intelligence-led operation resulted in the arrest of the suspects, identified as 20-year-old Seidu Muizu and 22-year-old Salifu Mutada, alongside the recovery of the stolen vehicle.

Further investigations led authorities to retrieve a second unregistered Loujia motorbike, which is believed to have been used to commit the crime. Both motorbikes have been impounded as evidence.

Preliminary findings indicate that the duo may be connected to a broader string of robberies that have recently targeted residents in Tumu and its surrounding areas.

Local police are broadening their investigation to determine if the suspects are tied to other reported criminal activities in the district.

While Muizu and Mutada remain in police custody, law enforcement officials are actively working to locate the firearm used during the robbery.

The regional command commended the public for their cooperation and urged residents to continue sharing timely information to support local crime-fighting efforts.
