The government is committed to establishing agro-industrial enclaves and improving irrigation systems to drive higher agricultural output and increase exports, President John Dramani Mahama has announced.

Speaking at the Ghana-UK Investment Summit 2026, the President explained that agriculture continues to be a central investment frontier under the Feed Ghana Programme.

He emphasised that the initiative places a strong focus on modernisation, agro-processing, and the overall growth of agribusiness.

In addition to agricultural developments, President Mahama noted that the government is actively pursuing the creation of a new national airline.

This move is intended to significantly enhance regional and international connectivity, whilst simultaneously boosting trade and tourism.

The President further highlighted that infrastructure remains a core priority for the administration.

He stated that the US$10 billion Big Push Programme is currently driving major investments in roads, railways, ports, and aviation infrastructure to ensure the smooth and efficient movement of people, goods, and services across the country.

Also at the event, Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy and President John Dramani witnessed the signing of the UK-Ghana Growth Partnership, which will help transform our economy and create thousands of opportunities for our people.

The partnership targets four priority areas: attracting private investment, enabling easier trade for Ghanaian businesses, driving industrial growth, and delivering world-class education.

This is expected to create 430 new jobs in Takoradi through the construction of the first commercial-scale ship repair and drydock facility in the Gulf of Guinea, empower our youth with new AI strategies and forge innovative science partnerships, improve healthcare by training our clinical engineers with specialist skills, and restore forests and create jobs in the Oti Region by protecting the environment.

The Ghanaian leader welcomed the announcement of the Takoradi Floating Dock Project, a £101 million UK-supported project, because it will pioneer the use of local pension funds for infrastructure.
