Suspect Arrested After Fire Hits Accra Central Police Barracks

A fire outbreak has hit the Accra Central Police Barracks, drawing emergency response and high-ranking security officials to the scene.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service arrived swiftly at the barracks and are working to bring the blaze under control.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, visited the location alongside members of the Police Management Board and the Accra Regional Police Commander to assess the damage and ensure affected personnel receive necessary support.

No casualties have been reported from the incident.

While the official cause of the fire remains unknown, authorities confirmed that a suspect has already been taken into police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.

In a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, Superintendent Ms. Juliana Obeng, the Ghana Police Service expressed its gratitude to the fire service team and the officers assisting on the ground.

Management noted that further developments regarding the incident and the investigation will be communicated as they unfold.
