Firefighters Prevent Disaster, Contain Separate Blazes in Accra

Accra witnessed a busy weekend for emergency responders as personnel from the Industrial Area Fire Station successfully tackled two separate fire outbreaks, preventing what could have been a catastrophic situation and ensuring zero casualties.

The first emergency call came in late Saturday night from Bubiashie, right by the North Gate of Accra Academy, where a Lexus RX350 had suddenly burst into flames.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and immediately went to work, bringing the intense blaze under control before it could spread to surrounding areas.

While the swift response managed to salvage the vehicle’s back seats and tires, the engine compartment, roof, and dashboard were completely ruined by the heat.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, and officials are currently investigating what triggered the fire.

The following day, teams were dispatched to Dansoman Last Stop after receiving reports of a fire at a local tailoring shop housed inside a metal container.

Although the flames had already died down by the time the crew arrived, the damage inside was extensive. The shop owner lost three sewing machines, various fabrics, work tables, and chairs to the heat and smoke.

As investigations into the causes of both weekend incidents continue, the Ghana National Fire Service has issued a strong reminder to the public.

Officials are urging residents and business owners to routinely check their electrical installations and remain vigilant about basic fire safety precautions to keep their properties safe.
