The Attorney-General of Ghana is scheduled to meet with counterparts at the United States Department of Justice for critical bilateral discussions centered on all pending extradition requests between the two nations.
This high-level meeting follows the successful return of Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, who arrived in Accra on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, after American authorities approved her extradition.
The Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, confirmed her arrival, noting that officials from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Prisons Service immediately took her into custody.
Law enforcement agencies are currently finalizing preparations for her to begin serving her prison sentence.
Tamakloe-Attionu’s return concludes a prolonged legal pursuit that began in April 2024, when the High Court convicted and sentenced her in absentia.
Following the verdict, the Government of Ghana formally submitted an extradition request to the United States in July 2024 to secure her surrender.
After more than two years of complex court proceedings in the United States, American authorities formally notified Ghana in January of this year that the request had been granted, setting her eventual return to Accra in motion.
