One dead, three Injured on Accra–Tema Motorway; search underway for missing tanker driver – GNFS

A fatal collision between a fuel tanker and a tipper truck on the Accra–Tema Motorway has left one person dead and three others injured.

Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, DO II Ebenezer Yenzu, the Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Tema Region, confirmed that firefighters have successfully extinguished the blaze caused by the crash.

According to DO II Yenzu, the single fatality was a victim who suffered severe burns; the charred body has since been retrieved and handed over to the police for investigation. Three other individuals who sustained injuries were rescued from the scene and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a search is underway for the driver of the fuel tanker, who remains unaccounted for.

“Recovery operations remain ongoing at the scene as emergency responders continue to search for the driver, who is currently perceived missing,” Yenzu stated.

The GNFS is actively investigating the cause of the accident and expects to release further details and preliminary findings shortly.
