Hon. Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has officially stepped down from his position as the National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP).
The decision, which follows what he described as careful reflection, marks a strategic transition aimed at elevating his political engagement within the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In an official statement, Vanderpuye expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to head the infrastructure initiative, acknowledging the leadership of the party’s flagbearer.
He stated that it has been a distinct privilege to serve former President John Dramani Mahama and the Ghanaian public in driving local infrastructure development.
“I am deeply grateful for the confidence reposed in me and for the opportunity to contribute to a programme that is transforming local infrastructure and improving lives across our communities,” Vanderpuye stated.
Mr Vanderpuye explicitly noted that his resignation is intended to clear the path for him to contest a National Executive position within the NDC.
This transition, according to the former lawmaker, is fueled by a desire to strengthen the party’s internal structures and contribute meaningfully to the country’s democratic frameworks from a different vantage point.
Despite leaving his administrative role, he reaffirmed his unwavering allegiance to the broader objectives of the NDC and its leadership.
He maintained that his commitment to the political vision of John Mahama remains intact as the party prepares for upcoming political responsibilities.
“I remain fully committed to the vision of President Mahama, the success of his administration, and the ideals of the NDC,” he affirmed, adding that he exits the role with optimism regarding the future impact of the infrastructure programme.
