A 52-year-old man, identified as Kweku Paintsil, has died in an apparent suicide at Wawase, a suburb of Agona Swedru in the Central Region.
According to family member Desmond Anthony, Paintsil was last seen on Thursday evening.
After he went missing, the family launched a search on Friday morning, which led to the discovery of his body.
Paul Alpe, the Agona West National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) officer, visited the scene to assist the bereaved family and urged the police to remain proactive in handling the case.
Meanwhile, local residents have called for a thorough investigation to rule out foul play.
Police investigators are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the death. The body has been deposited at the Agona West Municipal Mortuary for an autopsy.
