A community police assistant is reported to be in a critical condition after a motorcyclist allegedly shot him in the thigh following a confrontation.
The incident occurred at Dunkwa Dwakesiem in Upper Denkyira East, located in the Central Region.
Reporting on the incident on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Ohene Agyekum Tabono stated that the community police assistant was directing traffic when the rider and another individual refused to stop and nearly hit the assistant.
The assistant, identified as Emma Agyapong, confronted the rider, which escalated into a heated argument.
According to the reporter, Emmanuel Agyapong managed to remove his handcuffs and strike the rider with them, escalating the confrontation before bystanders intervened
The rider and his accomplice left the scene after several bystanders intervened.
However, they later returned wielding a gun, which the rider allegedly fired, hitting Emma in the thigh.
The rider and his accomplice then fled the scene.
Emma was initially rushed to a nearby medical facility but has since been transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The local police have launched a manhunt for the two individuals.
