Cabinet has instructed the Attorney-General, Dr Dominic Ayine, to compose a piece of legislation designed to fortify the security of national property.

Addressing attendees at the Ghana Civil Society Forum 2026, President John Dramani Mahama legalised the introduction of the State Assets Protection Bill following recent executive approval.

The anticipated law intends to shield public property whilst enhancing transparency regarding the administration of national resources.

“I’m also happy to announce to you that yesterday, Cabinet took a decision directing the Attorney General to draft a bill for the protection of state assets. It’s called the State Assets Protection Bill. It shows the guidelines under which any state asset can be disposed of, including lands, buildings, state assets, factories, industries, so that no government just capriciously disposes of state assets,” he remarked.

Furthermore, the President disclosed that the Cabinet has authorised the National Ethics and Anti-Corruption Plan 2026–2030. This strategy serves as a blueprint to steer initiatives countering institutional dishonesty over the coming five years.

President Mahama emphasised that sanctioning this anti-graft strategy highlights the administration’s devotion to fostering accountability and restoring the confidence of the populace.
