Ivory Coast floods claim 59 lives with more feared dead

Heavy, continuous rainfall since Saturday has triggered severe flooding and landslides across Ivory Coast, claiming the lives of at least 59 people.

Government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly warned that the casualty count is expected to climb as rescue teams continue their search operations.

According to Myss Belmonde Dogo, the minister of national cohesion, several fatalities were recorded in the Yopougon and Attecoube municipalities within the economic capital of Abidjan.
