The Roads and Highways Minister, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has criticised the Oti Regional Minister and local District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) for failing to flag underperforming contractors.
During an inspection of construction sites in the region on 8 July 2026, Mr Agbodza expressed sharp disappointment at the lack of local oversight, warning that a failure to report negligent contractors amounted to a dereliction of duty.
The Minister rejected suggestions that his feedback was a personal attack, stating instead that his remarks were intended to address institutional inaction.
He stressed that poor infrastructure continues to stifle local economic growth and disrupt daily commutes.
Demands for accountability
Mr Agbodza called on the Regional Minister, John Kwadwo Gyapong, and his district executives to rigorously monitor ongoing works and improve communication with central government.
“Not intended to attack or belittle the Oti Regional Minister and DCEs, but rather to bring to light their lack of action in ensuring the successful execution of government projects.”
The ministry has urged closer collaboration between all stakeholders to ensure delayed transport projects are brought back on track.
