Samuel Koku Anyidoho, Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress and former Spokesperson for President John Evans Atta-Mills, has joined forces with the current leadership of the NDC against any 3rd Term agenda being pursued by some persons close to President John Dramani Mahama.
In a tweet on his X page on Sunday, July 12, 2026, the outspoken Koku Anyidoho did not mince words about the fact that the NDC shall not be a “vehicle for carrying the obnoxious ambition of any individual on a selfish journey of destroying Ghana’s fledgling democracy.”
According to Mr. Anyidoho, because the current President has already made it emphatically clear that he shall not contest in 2028, and also because both the national chairman of the NDC, Johnson Kwadwo Asiedu-Nketiah and General Secretary, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, have also stated publicly on several occasions that the Party shall not condone any such “greedy bastard” attitude, there is no way anyone can use the party for their destructive purposes.
In his tweet, Mr. Anyidoho makes it clear that even if the Supreme Court goes ahead to give an interpretation to Article 66 (2) of the 1992 Constitution, and allows for an endless cycle of contesting for the office of President because a person has served two terms, but not two consecutive terms, the NDC shall not sell forms to anyone who will seek to use any such ruling to entrench himself/herself in power.
Making his point further, Koku Anyidoho said “… if the person likes, he/she can go form his/her own political party or contest as an Independent candidate and see if he/she will get even 1% of the votes.”
According to Koku Anyidoho, who is currently the Founder and CEO of the MILLS (Mindset, Integrity, Loyalty, Leadership, Service) Institute for Public Policy Advocacy and Transformational Leadership Development, “the NDC is a conscientious political party” that shall not support any agenda to destroy the democracy that it helped birth in 1992.
As things stand now, it is as clear as daylight that the NDC as a political party is very ready to distance itself from President Mahama should he kowtow to his hirelings and attempt to change his mind and contest again in 2028.
