Arrested-1-1 (1)

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man believed to be the ringleader of a gang behind the murder of Abdul Jabal Suleman.

The suspect, Seidu Masawudu, also known as Marshall, was apprehended at Soe in Bongo, Upper East Region, on Saturday, 11 July 2026.

Briefing the media, the Deputy Regional Police Commander in charge of Operations, ACP Cephas Arthur, explained that Marshall had been on the run following the killing of Suleman at Abompe New Site in the early hours of 9 July 2026. Acting on intelligence, officers tracked the suspect to his hideout in Bongo and took him into custody.

A statement signed by DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba revealed that the victim was attacked at around 2:20 am by armed men wielding guns and cutlasses. Although he was rushed to the AngloGold Ashanti Hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

During interrogation, Marshall admitted his involvement in the attack, which police have linked to gang rivalry. He named eight accomplices: Happy Bowman (alias O’Boy), Mallam Karim, Malik, Balanga, Basit, Nazir, Nuhu, and Jedus (alias Baron). A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend them.
Additionally, Marshall’s 22-year-old girlfriend has been detained at Tweapease for questioning.

The suspect will be arraigned before court once police investigations are finalised.

Meanwhile, the Command has cautioned the public against sharing a viral assault video online, clarifying that the footage is entirely unrelated to the Obuasi murder case.
