A newly promoted teacher, Eric Blankson, has been brutally stabbed to death by unknown assailants in his room at Maame Krobo in the Afram Plains South District.
The deceased, who was also a storekeeper at the Amankwa Fisheries Agriculture Technical Institute (AFATI) in the Afram Plains North District, had returned to the town for the weekend.
The attackers reportedly made away with approximately GHC 30,000.
Speaking on the tragedy, the brother of the deceased explained that he was with Mr Blankson at his Mobile Money (MoMo) shop before the incident.
Due to a heavy downpour and a subsequent blackout in Maame Krobo, Mr Blankson decided to retire to his room to sleep, while his brother remained at the shop to study.
Upon returning home, the brother noticed Mr Blankson’s sandals outside, but the bedroom door was locked from the outside with a padlock. Sensing danger, he forced the lock open and discovered the teacher lying in a pool of blood.
Mr Blankson was rushed to a nearby health centre, where he was pronounced dead. His body has since been deposited at the morgue.
According to his brother, the deceased had recently secured a promotion and was preparing to report to the Peki Training College for his new role before his life was cut short.
One person has since been arrested in connection with the incident and is assisting the police with ongoing investigations.
