President John Dramani Mahama has showered praises on the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, describing him as one of the most hardworking ministers in his administration.
The President gave the commendation on Thursday, July 16, 2026, whilst addressing a gathering during his Resetting Ghana Tour of the Volta Region.
According to President Mahama, the North Tongu Member of Parliament (MP) has played a pivotal role in advancing Ghana’s diplomatic interests and elevating the nation’s profile on the international stage.
He specifically highlighted Mr Ablakwa’s tireless efforts, which contributed significantly to the adoption of the historic United Nations resolution on reparations—an initiative proudly championed by Ghana.
The President further credited the Foreign Minister for his extensive travels across the globe to rally crucial support from member states, a diplomatic push that ultimately secured the backing of 123 countries for the resolution.
“Your Member of Parliament, our hardworking Minister of Foreign Affairs, indeed, I must tell you that he is among my hardest-working ministers. Every credit that I have attained on the international scene, it is he that has done the legwork.
“The UN Resolution on Reparations, it is he who did the traveling to convince all the 123 countries to vote for us,” President Mahama said.
