The Ayawaso East Municipal Education Directorate has taken delivery of 150 sets of teachers’ tables and chairs to help address furniture deficits across basic schools within the municipality.
The items were officially handed over during a short ceremony at the Assembly’s premises on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
The Municipal Education Director, Dr William Komla Tsekpo, received the consignment on behalf of the beneficiary schools.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso East Constituency, Hon. Baba Jamal, stated that the donation fulfills the commitment made by the President and the Minister of Education to adequately furnish educational institutions and eradicate dilapidated furniture nationwide.
He stressed the importance of an equitable distribution exercise that encompasses both public and private schools, observing that parents with wards in private institutions are equally taxpayers who deserve state support.
Corroborating the lawmaker’s remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, gave assurances that the donation forms part of a broader series of planned interventions.
He noted that the Assembly and government remain committed to rolling out further logistical support to enhance the learning environment for every child within the municipality, irrespective of whether they attend a public or private institution.
Receiving the furniture, the Education Directorate conveyed its profound gratitude to the Ministry of Education, the Member of Parliament, and the Municipal Chief Executive for their relentless support toward improving educational infrastructure.
Officials expressed optimism that the provision of proper furniture for teachers would motivate staff and significantly boost overall teaching and learning outcomes across Ayawaso East.
