The Tema Regional Police Command has cautioned traditional rulers and fetish priests against actions capable of triggering violence during this year’s Homowo Festival.
The warning follows past celebrations marred by violent clashes over disputes regarding authority to sprinkle Kpoikpoi, the traditional meal, which led to injuries and public disorder.
Addressing the media in Tema, Regional Police Commander DCOP Eric Asamoah Asiedu urged factions to resolve all chieftaincy disputes through legal and traditional channels rather than confrontation.
He assured residents of robust security measures across the Tema Metropolis, warning that individuals who commit crime under the guise of festivities will face full legal prosecution.
Meanwhile, DCOP Asamoah Asiedu highlighted recent operational successes by the Command, including key arrests linked to armed robbery and narcotics offences.
