Eyewitnesses speaking to Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM revealed that the vehicle suffered a brake failure while travelling at high speed.

The car reportedly ploughed into five people coming from Busia before crashing into a popular spot where local youth gather to watch Premier League football matches.

The deceased has been identified by residents as the daughter of a local vendor who sells Brukina, a popular millet and yoghurt dessert.

Recounting the terrifying ordeal, an eyewitness identified as Nii Odoi Sackeyfio, popularly known as Sandee, stated that the driver was heard screaming, “Jesus! My brakes have failed me! Jesus, my brakes!” seconds before the vehicle struck the victim. He added that angry residents apprehended the driver at the scene and handed him over to the police.

More than twelve other victims who sustained varying degrees of injury were rushed to the hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Expressing deep shock over the tragedy, another local resident noted that such a devastating incident had never occurred in the area before, describing it as a bad omen, particularly as the community prepares to celebrate the annual Homowo Festival.
