The Government of Ghana, in collaboration with the Gbeho family and related families, will hold a State Funeral for the late Ambassador James Victor Gbeho on Friday, 31st July 2026.
According to a press statement issued by the Minister for Government Communications and Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu (MP), the state event will take place at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.
The funeral is being organised to honour the stellar national and international service rendered by the late statesman throughout his career.
Describing him as one of Ghana’s most distinguished statesmen, the statement noted that Ambassador Gbeho was a career diplomat who rose through the ranks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, serving successively as Chief Director,
Deputy Minister, and ultimately as Minister for Foreign Affairs.
The statement further highlighted his international contributions, noting that beyond his dedicated service to Ghana, he served as the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Somalia and later as President of the ECOWAS Commission.
The Government extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
