Emmanuel Clottey, an aspiring Greater Accra Regional Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged to secure the parliamentary seats the party lost in the region during previous elections.

He indicated that he has distinguished himself through service and believes he is the most competent candidate for the role.

According to him, his ambition has received the blessings of former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as well as the party’s flagbearer and former Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Appearing on the weekend morning show on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Clottey highlighted his strong track record in record-keeping, data management, and research analysis as key assets that make him a viable candidate. He stated that the NPP in the region frequently relies on him for critical data to inform strategy.

He explained that by combining research with electoral operations, a party can evaluate past challenges, forecast future trends, and build robust systems to safeguard data.

The aspiring secretary posited that the NPP in the Greater Accra Region requires leadership with exceptional qualities to build a formidable communication team capable of addressing key issues.

Clottey further noted that the party needs technical minds and articulate communicators who can speak authoritatively from an informed position.

He appealed to NPP delegates to give him an overwhelming mandate so he can spearhead the effort to restore the seats lost in the 2024 general elections.

He stressed that the party possesses the necessary strength to reclaim these constituencies, adding that his years of analytical work have equipped him with the solutions to identify and fix the loopholes that led to past defeats.

He described the party’s decline in the region—from holding 21 seats after the 2016 elections down to 14, and currently just 5—as unfortunate.

“We are coming back for the seats we have lost. We are targeting to win 21 seats. There are challenges that caused us to lose those seats. In 2016, we secured 21 seats after targeting 19 seats. I have already informed the MPs who snatched the seats from us that we are coming back for them. Things can go differently.

I will restore the seats we have lost because I have done the analysis and have the solutions. We are targeting 21, but there are certain strategies we have to put in place so that we will achieve our targets. I pay attention to the winnability of the constituencies. We are going to turn things around because we know how to do these things,” he said.
