Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, has touched down in Kingston, Jamaica, embarking on a high-profile four-day State Visit aimed at bolstering the enduring bond between the two nations, furthering Africa-Caribbean partnership, and driving forward the global reparations conversation.

The state visit, running from August 2 to August 5, underscores Accra’s renewed commitment to deepening diplomatic, cultural, and economic connections with Kingston, while simultaneously solidifying Ghana’s strategic partnership with the broader Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

Central to President Mahama’s agenda in Kingston is his participation in a high-level Reparations Dialogue hosted at the University of the West Indies.

The discussions are set to bring global focus to historical justice and restitution.

He will also engage in key bilateral discussions with top Jamaican authorities, targeting expanded trade, mutual investment, vibrant cultural exchange, and enhanced South-South collaboration.

In a landmark moment of the visit, the President is scheduled to address a joint sitting of Jamaica’s Parliament, where he will articulate a unified vision for a robust, modern alliance between Africa and the Caribbean.

Rounding out the itinerary, President Mahama will lay a tribute to Jamaica’s iconic National Hero, Marcus Mosiah Garvey, and tour the historic Ghanaian Village Houses at Seville Heritage Park—sites that highlight the centuries-old ancestral linkages shared by the people of Ghana and Jamaica.
