EPA Vows Strict Enforcement of New Methane Emission Guidelines to Combat Climate Change

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has reaffirmed its dedication to executing the newly unveiled methane emission guidelines to achienve tangible environmental outcomes.
Speaking on behalf of the EPA Chief Executive Officer at the official unveiling ceremony, the Authority’s Director for Corporate Affairs, Madam Audrey Quarcoo, assured the public that the agency will rigorously apply the new framework to assist Ghana in curbing methane output and fulfilling its global climate targets.

She stated, “The EPA is committed to ensuring the new methane emission guidelines are fully implemented and deliver measurable results.”

The event gathered key players across the industrial, governmental, and civil society sectors to confront methane pollution, a major driver of global warming.

As a highly potent greenhouse gas, methane poses significant environmental risks.

The newly introduced regulations establish a structured system to track, report, and lower emissions across vital sectors, notably agriculture, waste management, and the oil and gas industry.

Madam Quarcoo stressed that active enforcement, regular compliance monitoring, and robust cross-sector remain central to attainicollaborationng the n̈ of the policy.

Furthermore, the EPA indicated it will partner with regulated businesses and institutions to strengthen operational capacity, ensuring the framework leads to meaningful emission cuts across the nation.
