An aspiring National Deputy Gn̈eneral Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anthony Kwame Nukpenu, has stated that the victory of the party, especially in the Greater Accra Region where they secured 29 out of 34 seats, signals more work ahead for them.
He said under no circumstances should the party become complacent, stressing that they must serve the people of Ghana and deliver on their promises.
The politician noted that the overwhelming victory of the NDC brought immense joy along with greater responsibility.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM with host Kwabena Agyapong, he explained that the NDC’s regional victory has provided an opportunity to work tactically to consolidate their gains.
He stated that the party, through its ongoing reorganisation, is ensuring internal elections are conducted in a manner that promotes unity and a shared purpose to retain the seats won in the 2024 elections.
He indicated that the party must stand strong, remain resilient, and properly coordinate its efforts ahead of upcoming District Assembly, internal, and general elections.
Furthermore, he emphasised that the NDC stands ready to quickly resolve all post-primary disputes so the party remains formidable for a bigger victory in 2028.
Mr Nukpenu described the party’s performance in the 2024 general elections as a unique achievement in
Ghana’s Republican history.
When asked whether his personal service contributed to the victory, he insisted the outcome was the result of collective effort rather than individual work.
“That landslide victory we chalked in the elections will not make us complacent. It has challenged us to work tactically to consolidate that stride. We are careful how we manage the affairs of the party and our reorganisation. We need to work in a manner that will make sure that the party will stand strong, resilient, and coordinate its efforts towards the next elections,” he said.
He added, “It is not about just me delivering. It is about teamwork. We worked as a team. You cannot do it all alone.”
