I come with experience as a tactical thinker and strategic planner if elected NDC Deputy General Secretary – Nukpenu

August 5, 2026
Anthony-Nukpenu

Anthony Kwame Nukpenu, the Greater Accra Regional Organizer for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared his intention to run for Deputy General Secretary.

Having served 16 years within the party’s regional organizational structure, Nukpenu believes it is time to transition into a broader national role.

Reflecting on his track record, the prominent politician emphasized his tireless dedication to the NDC.

He noted that the General Secretary’s office serves as a central hub for planning and coordinating party activities, with the General Secretary and the National Organizer leading the charge to secure electoral victory.

Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Nukpenu shared:

“We have worked so hard for the party. When you examine the work I have done, you will realize I have done my best. The General Secretary’s office is one of the cardinal offices of the party that plans and coordinates activities of the party, with the General Secretary and Organizer being the ones who lead the charge in ensuring that the party wins elections. Having served in this capacity for 16 years as organizer, I want a higher position so I can help the other regions.”

In his proposed role, Nukpenu aims to support the General Secretary in executive planning, coordination, and strategy.

He told host Kwabena Agyapong that the upcoming 2028 general elections will demand tactical depth rather than mere rhetoric: “The 2028 general elections would not be about talking. We will need tactical thinkers and strategic planners to understand each region and take them seriously for its own dynamics and collating, so we can coordinate and get the right votes for the NDC. It is not a matter of issuing statements, sitting on radio, and talking, but it is about going into the regions, understanding the regions, coordinating, and planning for the results to be achieved, and I think I can assist the General Secretary to achieve that.”

Although he has yet to make an official public launch, Nukpenu stated that his intention to contest is already receiving overwhelming support from grassroots members.

He expressed confidence that party delegates will elect him in December 2026, allowing him to leverage his experience to help deliver victory for the NDC in 2028.
