The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has assured former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo of a re-appointment should the New Patriotic Party (NPP) secure victory in the 2028 general elections.
Addressing party faithful during the ‘Democracy Under Attack’ demonstration, the Honourable MP for Effutu asserted that Justice Torkornoo was relieved of her duties without the necessary legal and constitutional justification.
The lawmaker urged supporters of the elephant family to remain steadfast and work tirelessly to ensure the party reclaims the seat of government at Jubilee House.
He further alleged that the John Mahama-led administration is utilizing state agencies to intimidate Ghanaians who do not align with the NDC government and its policies.
In a related development, the Deputy Director of Communications for the NPP, George Krobea Asante, reiterated that peaceful demonstration remains a constitutional right for every Ghanaian.
He called on all protesters to strictly abide by the directives issued by the Ghana Police Service, emphasizing that no individual is above the law.
