The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), in collaboration with the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS), is set to submit a formal petition to the Ministry of Education following mounting concerns over the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results.

The move follows allegations of unfair assessment practices targeting candidates within the private school sector across the country. Leadership of the council indicated that the initiative is aimed at addressing deep-seated grievances among school owners, parents, and learners regarding the outcome of this year’s national examinations.

In an official statement signed by Obenfo Nana Kwasi Gyetuah, the National Executive Director of GNACOPS, the leadership stressed that the petition seeks to hold assessment authorities accountable and restore integrity to the grading system.

“The purpose of this petition is to demand fairness, transparency, accountability, and an independent review of the 2026 BECE assessment process,” Obenfo Nana Kwasi Gyetuah stated.

The council has urged members within Accra and surrounding areas to gather at the Ministry of Education in Accra on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. to support the presentation of the document. Leadership emphasized that the exercise will be peaceful and lawful as stakeholders push for equitable treatment for all students.

“Let us come together in unity, peace, and respect as we advocate for integrity, fairness, and justice in Ghana’s educational assessment system,” the statement added.

Participating members, parents, and stakeholders have been encouraged to display placards carrying messages such as “Every child deserves a fair assessment,” “Justice for every BECE candidate,” and “Transparency builds trust” to highlight their demands during the gathering.
