Finance Minister and outgoing Acting Defence Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has commissioned the new Butler Barracks accommodation and office complex, reinforcing the Ghanaian government’s commitment to military welfare and operational readiness.

Marking one of his final acts after a year leading the Ministry of Defence alongside his finance portfolio, Dr Forson opened modernised facilities for the Central Ordnance Depot, the Ghana Armed Forces Central Band, and the Armed Forces Music School.

Built in partnership with Messrs Unique Development Limited, the development includes administrative offices, classrooms, rehearsal spaces, and a flagship auditorium for the Central Band.

Highlighting the project as a successful model for public-private collaboration, Dr Forson emphasised that private sector partnerships remain vital to accelerating defence infrastructure delivery.

He urged personnel to maintain a strong culture of care to preserve the new facilities for future generations, while reaffirming the government’s resolve to complete ongoing national projects, including the Afari Military Hospital.
