The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and leading National Democratic Congress (NDC) figure, Malik Basintale, has declared that the NDC has made history as the first political party in Ghana to fully implement its youth manifesto within its first year in office, while announcing plans for a second phase under President John Mahama.
Delivering an address to delegates at the NDC Western Regional Second Quarter Youth Conference over the weekend, held under the theme “Building on the Past: Empowering the Future”, the YEA boss emphasised that the party acted with firm resolve and clear purpose to deliver on every promise made to young Ghanaians.
Addressing the gathered youth leaders, Hon. Basintale underscored the government’s commitment to youth development, job creation, and economic empowerment through active governance.
“I can tell you today that the NDC is virtually the first political party to have fulfilled our entire youth manifesto in one year. Everything we promised in there we have done it,” he stated.
Furthering his message, he relayed what he termed “good news” directly from President John Mahama, revealing that the President has instructed the party leadership to return to the drawing board and draft a second youth manifesto to be rolled out before the expiration of his current term.
The conference, designed to strengthen engagement and mobilise young party members at the regional level, has since generated widespread discussion. While party supporters have celebrated the pronouncements as a significant milestone, political opponents and critics have raised questions regarding the factual backing and practical reach of the highlighted employment schemes.
