The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has disclosed that Ghana generated US$4.34 billion in total tourism revenue in 2025, driven by steady growth in both international and domestic visitor numbers.

Accounting for her stewardship during the Government Accountability Series, the Minister revealed that international tourist arrivals climbed from 1,288,804 in 2024 to 1,306,962 in 2025. Domestic tourism simultaneously expanded by 7 per cent, rising from 1.68 million visits to 1.79 million over the same period.

According to Hon. Gomashie, the nation’s top 10 tourist attractions recorded 1,377,588 visitors in 2025, accounting for roughly 77 per cent of all domestic site visits. These premier destinations include the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Kakum National Park, Bonsu Arboretum/Eco Park, Cape Coast Castle, Manhyia Palace, Kumasi Zoo, Accra Zoo, Elmina Castle, Shai Hills Resource Reserve and Aburi Botanical Gardens.

Highlighting interventions to preserve national heritage assets, the Minister reported the reopening of Nationalism Park following the resolution of persistent power supply challenges. She also announced the completion of the Tano Boase Sacred Grove Project, alongside restructured governance frameworks at the Anomabu Garden of Return and the Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm.

To diversify destination offerings and support President John Dramani Mahama’s 24-Hour Economy agenda, the Ministry introduced “Accra by Night”. The initiative establishes structured night-time tourism experiences aimed at stimulating business for restaurants, transport operators, artists, and local traders beyond traditional daylight hours.

On cultural preservation, Hon. Gomashie stated that three additional standardised orthographies for local languages will be launched before the end of the year, fulfilling manifesto commitments pledged by the administration.
