GCB Bank Denies Labone Branch Robbery Attack

GCB Bank PLC has refuted reports circulating about an attempted robbery attack at its Labone branch in Accra.

In an official statement released on Thursday, 13 August 2026, the bank clarified that no robbery or attempted robbery occurred at the branch or anywhere on its premises.

Management addressed the public concern following media reports linking the financial institution to a recent crime incident in the Labone enclave.

“At no point was the branch breached, and no customer, member of staff, funds or property of the Bank was affected,” the statement read.

The bank reassured its clientele that normal operations remain unaffected and urged the public to disregard the false reports.

“The Labone Branch remains secure, and customers can continue to conduct their banking transactions with confidence,” the bank stated, emphasizing its commitment to safety across its network.

GCB Bank further noted that it is working closely with law enforcement agencies to monitor developments regarding the incident in the area, assuring stakeholders of its robust security measures.

“We wish to reassure all our customers and stakeholders that GCB Bank remains safe, secure and fully committed to serving them,” the management added.
