Legendary African music icon and Ghana’s favorite musician, Kojo Antwi, is set to launch his next album at the Manhyia Palace in honor of the Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Although the official release date has yet to be announced, the music maestro has assured Otumfuo Osei Tutu II that the upcoming album will be launched in his presence.

“Mr. Music Man” made these revelations during a courtesy visit to His Majesty during the Awukudae Festival. The primary purpose of the visit was to present copies of his memoir, Mr. Music Man: The Journey, to the Asantehene and the Asantehemaa. Following his meeting with Otumfuo, the Maestro also paid a visit to the Asantehemaa, HRH Queen Nana Yaa Akyaa II, to congratulate her on her enstoolment. In total, he presented 300 copies of the book to Otumfuo and 50 copies to the Asantehemaa.

The Maestro was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Rocklyn Antwi, and ace broadcaster Dr. Kwame Adinkrah. The gathering brought together two of Ghana’s most celebrated cultural figures, underscoring the enduring connection between the nation’s traditional institutions and its creative arts community.

During the engagement, Kojo Antwi formally briefed the Asantehene on his latest literary work. Launched in February 2026, Mr. Music Man: The Journey documents his remarkable life, musical career, and experiences spanning several decades in Ghana’s entertainment industry.

The book chronicles his story from his formative years to his rise as one of Ghana’s most influential artists, reflecting on his professional path, the people he encountered along the way, and the evolution of his craft over time.

The Maestro explained that his decision to document his life was largely inspired by a concern that many African music legends have left behind very few written records of their journeys. His memoir is intended to preserve his story and contribute meaningfully to the historical record of African music.

Kojo Antwi’s enduring contributions—spanning highlife, Afropop, and reggae influences—have earned him a permanent place in Ghana’s cultural history, with his music resonating both locally and across the African continent. Academic research on his career similarly highlights him as an icon of Ghanaian popular music whose extensive body of work offers valuable insights for studying the nation’s musical heritage.

Consequently, his meeting with Otumfuo carried significance far beyond a book presentation; it marked a profound encounter between two foundational pillars of Ghanaian heritage: Asante traditional leadership and the country’s rich music tradition. The sacred occasion of the Awukudae Festival provided an ideal backdrop for this exchange, remaining a central moment for cultural observance and the gathering of traditional authorities, dignitaries, and the public.

For Kojo Antwi, presenting his memoir to the Asantehene served as a formal opportunity to share a piece of his personal journey with one of Ghana’s foremost custodians of culture and tradition. Ultimately, the meeting highlighted the essential role that personal stories, music, and lived experiences play alongside traditional institutions in preserving Ghana’s rich cultural legacy.
